Each workshop is run by a pair of volunteers who choose a theme and plan activities related to that topic. The idea is to create a fun, relaxed, informal atmosphere where everyone can express their opinions and can learn something new. Some examples of previous topics include:
If you have an interest in global issues and international affairs then you’ll love our workshops!
We have many Japanese and non-native English speakers who enjoy improving their English while learning something new at the same time. If you aren’t sure if your English level is good enough to participate, please come along and give it a try! We try to cater to all levels of English ability.
The entirety of the 1000 yen participation fee goes towards supporting Oxfam Japan.
If you are interested in facilitating a workshop then please read these guidelines and get in touch! We're always looking for new people to run our workshops - without our fantastic volunteer facilitators there would be no workshops to attend!
Check out our Workshop Resources page to download some of the content used in our previous workshops.
Please note that the views expressed by volunteer facilitators in workshops represent their own opinion and not necessarily those of Oxfam Japan.
